One of my New Years resolutions (or goals) this year was to find hobbies...and stick with them!
For my birthday last year, Alex bought me paint brushes, paint & canvases and I have been busy learning the best way to use the paints (adding water to not make it so thick and easier to spread across the canvas has been one trick I've figured out).
Here are a few of my paintings so far. Thinking of picking up a class somewhere to learn the basics.
The eye has been 3 different colors already. Think I may stick with the blue color.
Here is the other one using primary colors...put duct tape down to create the fine lines.
Another hobby I've picked up is sewing! Spent some wonderful time with my grandma in Florida over the holidays and she taught me how to bob a thread (thread a bob...something like that) and sew. We worked on the first pillow together and then I went a second day to do another (all by myself!). They came out pretty great. I think I am going to pick up a decently priced machine at Target to sew a few more things before I invest in an expensive machine.
Here is my first creation! First sewed on ribbon, then stitched on a button, then sewed together the pillow!
Anybody have any requests? :)

Yikes! It's been so long! Bye bye 2011!
So much for keeping up with my blogging! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season!
Alex and I enjoyed a quiet morning at home opening gifts before I flew off to Florida to spend the Christmas week with my family. And, to my amazement, he acknowledged that this year I did a GREAT job selecting gifts! WAHOO! I also bought a ton of Christmas decorations this year in hopes of bringing some holiday spirit to what has been a more stressful end of the year. Let's just say...there is still a lot of pink glitter that shows up on our faces...never again will I buy glitter...never.
For Christmas I spent a great week with my family in Florida and of course enjoyed the time spent with my adorable niece. She is so smart, cute and funny! And they grow up so fast!
For New Years, we visited friends in NYC. We had a blast! And the weather was pretty nice! Thanks again Warry for inviting us!
Definitely looking forward to the year. Hoping for a little more consistency this year and looking forward to a more positive year. Excited about my first convention with my new job, looking forward to volunteering at the Humane Society, looking forward to meeting the 2 new family members out west :) and looking forward to all the weddings to attend again this year.
My new years resolution this year is to be more positive and to be thankful for all our blessings.
And, I have to leave you with one cute pic of Alivia :) She didn't make it to midnight!
